I couldn't ctrl+alt+backspace to reset X, so I had to hard reset each time. In response to an earlier post about the x200 integrated webcam, I too had problems with cheese/luvcview/skype all causing gnome to freeze up after showing a black box and then a full black screen.

(The GigE ethernet is of course currently disabled, if you've been following the news: there's a bug in the e1000e driver which can permanently damage your ethernet card.) Finally, I changed my Xorg driver to "vesa", and now suspend works beautifully. I tried all sorts of quirks with pm-suspend, but nothing works. Once this is done, the X200 suspends, but does not restore properly. Currently this can be overcome by adding creating a file in /etc/pm/config.d/ with the contentsĢ. Intrepid does not recognize that the machine can suspend, so pm-suspend by default etc, does not do anything. To install this deb, you have to use apt-get to remove the default driver package, but after that, installation goes well and enables 2d and 3d support. Wi-fi: (The poster indicates that the instructions don't work for him, but if they're followed closely, they work for the X200). These two things need to be done to get it fully functioning: So far, the newest ultraportable offering from Lenovo is very close to being fully compatible with Ubuntu 8.04 amd64 directly out of the box.
